I would like to just say here and now for the record, I am an idiot. I have been knitting a very simple, straight forward vest top thing over the last two holiday weeks I've had. So simple that practically nothing could go wrong. One colour, just plain stocking stitch. I started my armholes at 10". This (for those who do not knit, sew or think too hard about the measurements of your average - or even quite short - human) is about 4 inches too short. This is something that I should know, given the number of well-fitting jumpers I have now completed. The wool I'm knitting in is nice, sticky stuff, and ripping back will be a pain in the arse, but rip back I must. 4 inches is too much to overlook given that I do not want a crop top. Idiot.
